Flowering Dogwood is a small deciduous ornamental tree, with a broadly pyramidal shape that becomes somewhat flat-topped with age. In spring, it produces striking bracts in pink to reddish-pink tones that surround the small yellow-green centers, creating large, showy displays. The leaves are oval, dark green in summer, turning attractive shades of red in fall. In late summer to fall bright red berries appear, attractive to birds, which often persist into winter.
